What exactly is FMGE?
The FMGE stands for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination and is administered by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). An Indian citizen or OCI who finished their main medical education outside of India but intends to practice medicine in India must pass this examination in order to register with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/State Medical Council (SMC).
Candidates who completed their primary degree course on or before March 15, 2002, are not required to take this test because FMGE was created in 2002. It's also worth noting that the FMGE isn't an entrance exam and can't be used to get into any school. It's a test for foreign medical graduates who want to practice medicine in India. In December and June of each year, the exam is held. If a student is unable to pass the FMGE exam in December, he or she may retake the exam in June.
